On Saturday, May 3, Performance Chevrolet is sponsoring Safe Kids of Durham, North Carolina. This event will highlight vehicle safety for minors. Fun events of the day will include: how to get out of a locked trunk if you’re ever trapped inside, how to work with OnStar if you need help, how far away a child must be to been seen by a driver of an SUV, how hot vehicle interiors get in the summer and what temperature kills.

A proposal for VFY's community service participants to bring fun and fitness activities to children in public housing neighborhoods has been selected as a finalist in Blue Cross Blue Shield's Step It Up philanthropic campaign.

We need your help. The winning proposal will be selected through online voting and will receive $75,000! Voting is allowed from the same email address once per day. You are allowed to vote more than one time (on different days). Voting will run through May 16.

GM unveiled its plans for developing the highly anticipated Chevy Volt and reviewed their plans for bringing the car to US markets by the year 2010.

Senior executives say they are committed to the date and it is their Number One priority.

GM has also opened their battery research labs and design studios to the press, all in an effort to compete with the highly successful Toyota Prius.

Long term goals are to guarantee a battery that can last at least 150,000 miles and/or 10 years and take a vehicle to 60 MPH in less than 9 seconds

GM to restart truck making.

According to recent developments, the GM plant in Terre Haute, Indiana will begin to make trucks again!

The plant has stated that they have received enough parts to start production on a limited basis. The source did not say where the parts were coming from.

This is good news following the recent reports that US domestic auto sales were down. Although the plants will not be up to normal production, this is a glimmer of light in contrast to a lot of the bleak economic news that has come out recently.
