America’s sports car offers a thrilling and refined performance
Since its debut in 1953 at the General Motors Motorama through to the sixth generation C6 the Chevrolet Corvette sparks off a kinetic energy- a colorful and sporty spirit that makes it 'America's sport's car'. 2001 saw the rebirth of the Z06 which metamorphosed into the C6 in 2005. Performance is vintage Corvette with all of its form, grace and power.
Corvette coupes and convertibles come with an electronically controlled 6-Speed Paddle Shift Automatic Transmission (AT) with a manual shift control. Suspension and braking systems deliver an enhanced performance. It offers three suspension levels, a setup with Magnetic Selective Ride Control (with larger cross-drilled brake rotors for this model year) and a Z51 package with high-performance brakes, suspension components and transmission gearing.
For 2007 the convertible’s 3LT package includes a power top. The Z06 2LZ package includes the acoustic package while the Bose premium audio system comes with steering wheel audio controls. OnStar system is optional on the Z06 trim. Available two-tone seats with perforated leather seating surfaces on the Coupe or Convertible, and a larger glove box storage area are amongst some of its interior changes. Stirring acceleration – great mileage
The 2007 Chevrolet Corvette is available in coupe, convertible and the sporty Z06 versions. The coupe and convertible trims are equipped with a standard 400 hp 6.0L, LS-2 V8 engine that gives up 400 pound-feet (lb-ft) of torque.
The new Z06 boasts of a 7.0-liter (L) V8 that serves up a whopping 505 horsepower (hp) and 470 lb-ft of torque. A 6-speed manual transmission is standard across trims. EPA estimated fuel economy amounts to 18/28 mpg (city/highway).
The Coupe and convertible are available with three suspension choices: the standard suspension, Magnetic Selective Ride Control and the Z51 Performance Package. The manufacturer states that an optional 6-Speed Paddle Shift with Automatic Modes offers total driver involvement with an automatic transmission.
Aerodynamic form enhances performance
Regular updates over the years has seen the Corvette evolve into a sleek, svelte statement of machismo with the right blend of athletic grace and hidden strength. A little nip here, a tuck there, a trimmed wheelbase, and you have a car with an agility and power that's virtually unsurpassable.
Smaller and lighter it has a more global appeal and an aerodynamic contour. The Corvette sports exposed headlamps that in combination with the grille give it a slick appeal. The body work is linear and smoother generating better stability at high speeds. Sculpted fenders and sharp creases swoop dramatically into the rear deck. From a cosmetic viewpoint, the narrow rear end is a vast improvement.
The Chevy's size and lighter weight gives it a taut and streamlined aura improves agility. The tapered rear deck and fascia improves performance. An easy-to-operate manual top is standard. It also has an optional power-operated soft top. The wheels have been pushed out toward the corners of the car stretching the wheelbase, resulting in shorter overhangs; which makes it more nimble. The longer wheelbase aids stability.
Luxurious interiors
The Corvette’s interiors are crafted to perfection. Meticulously appointed luxury pervades. It features an optional state-of-the-art DVD navigation system. The dashboard has a material that is soft to touch. Ritzy leather seating is comfortable.
The instrument panel features big, easy-to-read analog gauges. A head-up display projects speed, rpm and g-forces onto the windshield. Keyless Access (with a Push-Button Start) allows one to unlock the doors or start the car without a key. All you have to do is open the door and sensors detect the key and unlock the door. Climb in, push the starter button to the right of the steering wheel and the V8 engine comes to life.
Other top-of-the-line features include; an instrument cluster backlit by LEDs that maximize clarity, OnStar system, XM Satellite Radio, ample stowage space, the Z51 Performance Package, steering column - power telescoping with manual tilt, power windows, climate (temperature) controls - dual-zone, mirror inside rearview with compass and driver outside rearview, a Bose premium seven-speaker system and a Universal Home Remote transmitter.
Awe-inspiring V8
Crisp suspension and a V8 add up to a power packed ride, we're talking 400 hp and 400 lb-ft of torque here. Improved handling generates greater grip. Automatic transmission works well with the V8. Refined aerodynamics with the Z51 package is sheer dynamite.
Suspension packages deliver a supple ride allowing drivers to choose the setup that is most compatible with their driving style. The standard suspension allows a balanced and comfortable ride quality along with precise handling.
The Corvette is immensely agile thanks to its trimmer proportions and refined suspension. Upgraded-bigger brakes that are progressive and smooth improve performance and durability. It holds its own under hard braking conditions and the ride quality stays firm when braking and turning at the same time. The Z51 has bigger brake rotors that ensure optimal results despite repeated hard braking.
Adheres to standard safety norms
